Department of Fishing and Post-Harvest Technology is one of the five Departments of the Faculty of Fisheries in Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, has started its journey through the establishment of the Faculty of Fisheries in 2012. The Vision of this department is to offers courses with the most modern and upgraded knowledge regarding harvesting, handling, processing, and manufacturing of Fisheries resources at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels under the Faculty of Fisheries. 

The Department offers different courses of a total of 24 credits at Undergraduate (B. Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) and 40 credits at Postgraduate (M. S. in Fishing and Post-Harvest Technology) along with teaching activities. Faculties of this Department also engaged with research, consultancy, and other extracurricular activities. The Department aims to produce competent Fisheries graduates and also develop a center of excellence for education, training, and research in the field of fish and seafood processing, preservation, and its proper distribution, harvested from Freshwater, Coastal, and Marine environments. This department is located on the second floor at the Faculty of Fisheries (new academic buildings) of CVASU.
