Department of Fisheries Resource Management has started its journey through the establishment of Faculty of Fisheries in 2012. The Department of Fisheries Resources Management, offers courses in undergraduate level under the Faculty of Fisheries, has the mandate to produce qualified manpower in the fisheries sector with proper training in the areas of inland, coastal and marine fisheries for its sustainable management and development. The course curriculum of the Department of Fisheries Resources Management has been prepared with a view to making the programmes relevant to the needs and development of larger society. In particular, the courses will enable graduates from such an academic Department to be innovative and more relevant in terms of job creation, with more impact on local, national and global development. The main goal of this department is to educate the students with the present status of fisheries resources and to do research on their future potential with updated knowledge and practices of fisheries management for conservation and sustainable exploitation. Students of this department will be acquainted with understanding on water quality parameters of natural ecosystems and different production systems to manage the resources effectively. This department helps to introduce the students with concept of the climate change and its effects on fisheries, and their possible remedies. As a result that they become aware and enable to develop skills with a view to providing the necessary support services to the fisheries and livelihood of the vulnerable communities. This department makes the student skilled in assessing the stock abundance in water body and different protocols for biodiversity conservation.
