Sharmin graduated from Chittagong Govt. Veterinary College under the University of Chittagong in 2002 with a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). She went on to complete a Masters of Science (MSc) in Veterinary Epidemiology at the Royal Veterinary College under the University of London, United Kingdom in 2005-06. Following this she went on to a Doctorate of Veterinary Epidemiology at the University of Southern Denmark in 2009-12. In 2016 she achieved Fulbright Visiting Scholar grant worked as Postdoctoral researcher at the University of California Davis, United States of America. She joined Chittagong Govt. Veterinary College (Now Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University) in July 2003 as Lecturer. After serving 16 years in different position, she was promoted as Professor in 2016. She currently is in charge of Director of One Health Institute and Head of the Department of Pathology and Parasitology.
