Professor Md. Ahasanul Hoque has been working as a faculty member for the last 25 years. He obtained his DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) and MS (Pharmacology) from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). He started his career in Bangladesh Civil Services in 1998. After serving the Livestock Department for three years, he joined the then-Chittagong Govt. Veterinary College as a lecturer. He took his second MS, this time in Veterinary Epidemiology from the Royal Veterinary College of the UK. He obtained his PhD from James Cook University, Australia with an Epidemiology major.

Professor Hoque served as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) as well as the Coordinator of Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU). He is currently serving as the Director of One Health Institute of CVASU. He established the Master’s programme in Epidemiology and has since contributed significantly to the advanced master’s programmes. He pioneered the Problem-based Learning (PBL) and Simulated Clinical Skills Laboratory Practices at CVASU and these programs were later incorporated by the other veterinary educational institutions across the country.

Professor Hoque has excellent experiences in leading and coordinating international research and educational projects, e.g., UK funded: i) Behavioural adaptations in live poultry trading and farming systems and zoonoses control in Bangladesh and ii) The GCRF One Health Poultry Hub project funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI); iii) Sweden funded: Udder Health Programme; and iv) WOAH (World Organization for Animal Health) funded: Veterinary Education Twinning Project. He has gained valuable administrative experience while completing these projects.

Professor Hoque has demonstrated excellent teamwork by partnering with professionals and laypeople across multiple disciplines. He has deep knowledge of the University’s structure and priorities necessary to produce the best graduates. Besides academic teaching and research, Professor Hoque is also involved in outreach activities like CE training of the Vets, and farmers' training.
