Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Hossainis a Professor of Parasitology in the Department of Pathology and Parasitology, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU). He joined in the same department as an Associate Professor in July 2001 and later promoted to a  Professor.  Dr. Hossain obtained the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Masters of Science (MS) in Medicine from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Later, he got the highly prestigious  "Japanese Government Scholarship" (Monbushu for five years) to pursue the  Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Veterinary Science from the Graduate school of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. Afterward, he served as a BK21 postdoctoral fellow at Chungbuk National University, Chengju, Chungbuk, South Korea until  2007. Dr. Hossain also served a as very prestigious "Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)" postdoctoral fellow at Kagoshima University, Kagoshima, Japan in 2008. In his early career, he also holds the position of a  Scientific Officer at BAURES of  BAU for October-December in 2003. In 1995-1998, he also served as a Veterinary Surgeon in the Department of Livestock Services, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. 

 Dr. Hossain has had very good records of professional achievements.  His research interests are in the areas of parasitology, zoonotic parasites, genomics,  bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, RT-PCR baes diseases diagnosis, DNA Barcoding, computational biology, and system biology . He developed the research expertise on protozoal diseases, infectious diseases, and inherited diseases in domesticated animals by attending training, workshops, conferences and participating in joint research with researchers in the Japan, Thailand, India, Nepal,  Soudia Arabia, UAE , South Korea, France, Denmark, Italy, Span, Holland, and USA. Till now he has received many competitive grants from different national and international organizations including World Bank, NATP, NST, TWAS (Italy), HEQEP-UGC, etc. He has published around 70  peer-reviewed research articles in many reputed journals. He supervised more than  30 undergraduate and 30 postgraduate students.
