Mahabub Alam obtained his undergraduate degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, DVM) in 2011 and post-graduate Master’s degree (Animal Science) in 2014 from Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), Bangladesh. Dr. Alam obtained his PhD degree from Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan. In his doctoral research project, he investigated the epigenetic control of gene expression by Methionine Adenosyltransferase (MAT), one of the enzymes of methionine metabolism which catalyzes the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) in mammalian cells. Since March 2014, has been serving as an academic staff in the Department of Animal Science and Nutrition (Major: Animal Science) under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, CVASU. His specialized academic areas are: livestock husbandry, rearing and management of zoo, wild and laboratory animals, meat science and processing of meat animal byproducts. His research fields include: animal welfare, animal and poultry production science, antimicrobial resistance of animal products contaminating organisms, antimicrobial residues in animal derived products and epigenetic control of gene expression in mammalian cells through cellular metabolism.
