Professor Dr. A.K.M Saifuddin is the senior most faculty member of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. From CGVC (Chittagong Government Veterinary College) to CVASU, he has been serving this institution for more than 26 years. Across these years, Dr. Saifuddin played a crucial role in both administration and decision making process of the institution along with devotion in research and earnest effort in academic and extra-mural teaching.  

Prof. Saifuddin received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from University of Chittagong. He has received the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and MS in Pharmacology from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Thereafter, he received postgraduate training in "Animal Reproduction" from the University of London, UK. He received further postgraduate diploma and training on "Farm Animal Radiology" from the Azabu University, Japan and  Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK. He also received postgraduate diploma on "Poultry Diseases" from Copenhagen University, Denmark. 

He has supervised and co-supervised many students--in internship, MS and MPH--of various domains, from veterinary to food science and human health; and through this process he published many articles in the national and internationally renowned journals. 

He also authored four books, "Veterinary Therapeautics and Vaccines", "Compendium of Veterinary Medicine" "Concise Veterinary Information Guide"  and "Poultry Passport and Biogas Technology."

He was involved in various positions of university and college administration. He was the founding Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of CVASU. He has served as Vice-Principal, acting Vice-Chancellor, Director of various directorates (e.g. Teaching Veterinary Hospital, IQAC etc.), chairman of different permanent and temporary committees of CVASU and CGVC. Currently, he is the Director of External Affairs and a member of Syndicate Committe of CVASU. He is also the member of Teacher selection committees of various universities.

Prof. Dr. AKM Saifuddin is the member of Bangladesh Accrediation Council (BAC) and syllabus development committee under Bangladesh Veterinary Council (BVC).  He is the life member of BVA (Bangladesh Veterinary Association), KIB (Krishibid Institution Bangladesh), BSVER (Bangladesh Society of Veterinary Education and Research), WPSA-BB (World Poultry Science Association Bangladesh Brach) and former president of BVA, Chattogram chapter from 2005 to 2009.

Before joining in the then CGVC, Dr. AKM Saifuddin served in Department of Livestock Service of Bangladesh Government for 9 years as Additional Veterinary Officer and Veterinary Surgeon.
