3. Overview

Bir Muktijoddha M A Hannan Hall (BMMAHH) is a significant residential hall located within the premises of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Named after Bir Muktijoddha (War Hero) M A Hannan, a valiant freedom fighter of Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971, the hall stands as a tribute to his contributions to the nation's independence.

The hall serves as accommodation for students enrolled in various academic programs at CVASU, providing a conducive environment for learning, community engagement, and personal development. It offers residential facilities, including dormitories, common areas, study spaces, recreational facilities, and other amenities essential for student life.

Beyond its role as a residence, Bir Muktijoddha M A Hannan Hall plays a vital part in fostering a sense of camaraderie among students, promoting extracurricular activities, and organizing events that contribute to the holistic development of its residents. These activities may include cultural events, seminars, workshops, sports tournaments, and community service initiatives, enhancing the overall university experience for its inhabitants.

The hall's namesake, M A Hannan, symbolizes bravery, patriotism, and sacrifice, inspiring the residents to uphold these values and contribute positively to society. The hall stands not only as a living space but also as a monument representing the university's commitment to honoring the nation's history and encouraging the spirit of patriotism and dedication among its students.

 বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা এম এ হান্নান

বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা এম এ হান্নান, ১৯৩০ সালের ১০ ফেব্রুয়ারি তারিখে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের তেহট থানার খাসপুর গ্রামে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তিনি ১৯৪৯ সালে মেহেরপুরের দারিয়াপুর হাইস্কুল থেকে ম্যাট্রিকুলেশন এবং ১৯৫১ সালে কুষ্টিয়া কলেজ থেকে আই.এ পাস করেন। তারপর ঢাকার জগন্নাথ কলেজে বি.এ অধ্যয়নকালে তিনি ১৯৫২ সালে ভাষা আন্দোলনে অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

অবদানঃ

• ১৯৬৪ সালে তিনি চট্টগ্রাম জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের দপ্তর সম্পাদক নির্বাচিত হন।

• বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের নেতৃত্বে ১৯৬৬ সালের ৬-দফা আন্দোলন এবং ১৯৬৮ সালে আগরতলা ষড়যন্ত্র মামলা বিরোধী আন্দোলনে তিনি অংশ নেন।

• ১৯৬৮ সালে তিনি চট্টগ্রাম জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক, ১৯৭০ সালে ভারপ্রাপ্ত সাধারণ সম্পাদক এবং পরে সাধারণ সম্পাদক নির্বাচিত হন।

• ১৯৭১ সালে অসহযোগ আন্দোলন চলাকালে তিনি ২৪ মার্চ চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরে ‘সোয়াত’ জাহাজ থেকে পাকিস্তানিদের অস্ত্র খালাসের বিরুদ্ধে ছাত্র শ্রমিক জনতাকে নিয়ে প্রতিরোধ সৃষ্টি করেন।

• তিনি বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের প্রেরিত স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা কালুরঘাট স্বাধীন বাংলা বেতারকেন্দ্র থেকে পাঠ করেন।

• পরে তিনি আগরতলা যান এবং সেখানে ‘হরিনা যুব শিবির’ প্রতিষ্ঠায় ভূমিকা রাখেন।

তিনি ১৯৭৪ সালের ১১ জুন চৌদ্দগ্রামে এক সড়ক দূর্ঘটনায় আহত হন এবং পরদিন ফেনী হাসপাতালে তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়।
