Dr. Md. Mahiuddin Zahangir received his Ph. D. from Sado Island Center for Ecological Sustainability, Niigata University, Japan in 2021. His research was on the neuroendocrine regulation of semilunar spawning mechanisms in pufferfish. Earlier, he received his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (Hons.) degree in 2012 from the Faculty of Fisheries, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, and Master of Science (M.S.) in June 2014 from the Department of Fisheries Biology and Genetics. After successful completion of the graduation with the bright result, he joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Fish Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Fisheries, Chittagong Veterinary, and Animal Sciences University and served as Lecturer from March 2014 to March 2016 and as assistant professor from March 2016 to March 2021. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Fish Biology and Biotechnology, CVASU. 

Dr. Md. Mahiuddin Zahangir possesses a strong academic and research background in his professional arena that includes a number of internationally reputed scientific articles.

  2. Awarded with the prestigious Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship in 2017 for Ph.D. research in Marine Biological Station, Sado Island Center for Ecological Sustainability, Niigata University, Japan. 
  3. Fellowship Award from “National Science and Technology”, Bangladesh in 2013 for the Master’s Research work on “Physiological stress response on Fish”. 
  4. Gold Medal Award in recognition of outstanding performance among the male students of all the faculties in obtaining graduation degree in July-December 2012. 

Research Grants
  1. Worked as Sub-project Management Team Member (SPMT) in World Bank and UGC funded HEQEP project named “Capacity building of the newly established Faculty of Fisheries and strengthening internship program of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for producing competent graduates” from January 2016 to September 2018.
  2. Worked as Co-principal Investigator in sub project entitled “Improvement of the Culture practice of the Soft-shell mud crab in Bangladesh” funded by Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) funded project named “Culture of Cuchia (Mud eel) and Crab in the Selected Areas of Bangladesh and Research Project” from July 2015 to September 2018.
  3. Successfully completed UGC funded research project named “A histological approach for the characterization of the gonadal maturation cycle of Poa fish” as Principal investigator from July 2015 to December 2015.
