Md Shafiqul Islam Khan completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2005 from the University of Chittagong (CU) and then went on to Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) to pursue his Master of Science (MS) in Biochemistry. He is currently doing his PhD studies in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular biology at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU). 

 He began working as a lecturer in the Department of Anatomy and Histology on June 29, 2005, in Barisal Govt Veterinary College and he remained there till June 30, 2008. Following that, he joined and worked at the PSTU's same department till November 8, 2012. He was then transferred to the Department of Food Microbiology, where he remained until March 10, 2024. He was promoted to professor (grade-2) on 6 December 2022. He started working as a professor at CVASU's Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology on March 11, 2024.                                                                    

As an academician, he has served as a syndicate member of Khulna Agricultural University, and as an expert member of different higher and lower-level teachers’ recruitment boards at Habiganj Agricultural University and Khulna Agricultural University.

 During his career, he supervised 30 master's students and published over 60 articles in reputable national and international journals which had received over 1200 citations. He provided consulting services to three national and international NGOs.
