Tofazzal Md. Rakib has been employed as an Associate Professor of Pathology at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) since 2023. He worked as a research fellow at Kagoshima University Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Japan from April to September 2023. He received his Ph.D. from Kagoshima University Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Japan, with his doctoral research centering on discovering novel genetic alterations in feline Pompe disease and Niemann-Pick disease.

Before pursuing his Ph.D., he earned both his Master of Science in Pathology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from CVASU in Bangladesh. Starting in 2016, he began his teaching career at CVASU as a lecturer of pathology and was later promoted to the position of Assistant Professor of Pathology in 2018.

Dr. Rakib's research interests encompass structural virology and host-virus interactions. He is collaborating with other experts to investigate host-virus immune interactions and is actively involved in developing a candidate vaccine for significant viral diseases in the veterinary field.
